006 - Different kind of overwhelm
Notes
In this episode of "Parenting the Intensity," we dive into the different kinds of overwhelm parents and their intense children may experience. Join us as we explore the various triggers so we can deal better ourself and support our kids through these overwhelming moments.
In this episode we categorizes overwhelm into 7 categories
emotional
physical
sensory
organizational
mental
social
value-based.
We understand that emotional overwhelm can arise from both positive and negative emotions, such as joy or frustration. Meanwhile, physical overwhelm may manifest as sensory issues or feeling unsafe in one's physical environment. Sensory overwhelm, can be triggered by certain noises, smells, or textures that can overwhelm sensitive individuals. Organizational overwhelm, can come from things that looks simple like cleaning their rooms.
Throughout the episode, as always, we emphasize the importance of disregarding one-size-fits-all ways of dealing with situation and finding what fits each individual. Our aim is to provide tailor-made solutions and ideas that honor the unique needs of each parent and child.
